Emalea gave a talk in church today on home/visiting teaching. She told a joke she found which goes mostly like this, "A father of a family called his home techers to inquire why they had only come 10 times in the past year instead of 12. this was the answer, ' You didn't expect us to come on Halloween and New Years did you?'"

The Rosemary cub pack had its annual cub car rally, (Pine Derby race for our southern readers) and we once again collected a prize. In fact we did better than just collect a prize we WON THE BIG ONE! Yes, Ty's green car named The Green Lantern was the big winner dominating all opponents. His closest race was with brother Duncan and his Fire Truck named 911 Moo (due to a flaming Never Stop Milk sign on the sides. They faced each other in the second heat. Their first race was a tie, the second Ty edged out Duncan by a split second. Duncan took the next race by a nose, but ultimately, Ty won in the fourth race. This sent Duncan to the B-side where he dominated until the final race losing a 2-1 split with a car that's axels had just recently been lubed with sewing machine oil. Until the oil was applied, the car was not very fast. Even with the oil, the races were extremely tight. We don't feel bad for Duncan though because for the second year running he won the prize for most unique racer. Last year he had a Noah's Ark complete with animals. Photos of this year's race will be forthcoming soon. Here is a picture showing Ty and Duncan's cars for this year, along with a car Jen and Emalea made last year for the school's races. The tiger was hand painted by Jen, Rob cut out the car and Emalea helped paint and finish the racer.

Another day at work building the temporary school. Our division is renovating two schools and so they had two large fabric domes erected. Inside the domes we are constructing several classrooms. The domes are about 40 feet high on the inside and 50 on the outside and about 24m X 36 M in length/width. None of the classrooms have ceilings so it will be interesting how the kids behave. I envision a lot of tossing of objects over the walls.
